The highly anticipated penultimate 7th season for the immensely popular fantasy drama TV series Game of Thrones will premiere on July 16 and the fans just cannot wait. Set in medieval era in the fantastical land of Westeros, the show follows the chronicles of several dynasties, factions and warlords – all fighting and plotting against each other for the coveted Iron Throne.

However, not many are aware of the Game of Thrones’ Dehradun connection. The beautiful swords, armor and costumes you see on the show are officially (yes, officially) manufactured, separately, by two Dehradun-based companies – RS Windlass & Sons and Lord of Battles.

Founded in 1991, RS Windlass & Sons is a company that specializes in making medieval and period clothing and accessories for top Hollywood production houses. They have created official costumes, weapons and merchandises for television and films such as Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Harry Potter, 300, Rome and Spartacus.

On the other hand, Lord of Battles is the brainchild of Saurabh Mahajan, former captain of the Indian army. Founded in 2005, the company, which started with three employees have since landed lucrative deals for major production houses in US and UK. Some the popular shows the company has provided costume and props for include Assassin’s Creed, Game of Thrones and The Hobbit.

However, before you check out their websites and order a merchandise for yourself, just wanted to let you know that they don’t sell in India. All their merchandises are sold in European and American markets. So, yea, there’s that.
