Golu Devta Temple – Where Bells are Symbol of Faith

One of the most famous temples of Kumaon region is Golu Devta Chitai Temple, dedicated to Gollu or Goljyu Devta a Avtar of Lord Shiva who is an incarnation of Gaur Bhairav. Often referred as God of Justice, Golu Devta Temple is reputed for making wishes come true, provided the worshipper ask for it with a clear conscience. Stacks of letters are pinned all over the temple along with thousands of bells, by this means the worshipper asks for the blessings of Golu Devta.

Golu Devta Temple is located in Almora region, 8kms from the main Almora town and 4kms before the gates of Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary.
