Pawandeep Rajan (21 years old), a young lad from Champawat, Uttarakhand, won the famous singing reality show “The Voice India” last Sunday (August 30). The show which was based on votes from audiences across India began with 102 singers from across the country who took part in the three months of stiff singing competition. From a small hilly town to the winner of national T.V reality show, Pawandeep became an inspiration to all youngsters of Uttarakhand and idol to those who are looking their career in singing. Pawandeep proves that by doing hard work and dedication one can achieve anything. He is a son of famous Kumauni singer Suresh Rajan.

The &TV show is a version of the internationally-acclaimed singing reality show, The Voice. He defeated Parampara Thakur, Sahil Solanki, Snigdhajit Bhowmik, Rishabh Chaturvedi, Vishva Shah, Deepesh Rahi and Sachet Tandon in the grand finale. Pawandeep received the grand prize of Rs 50 lakh from &TV, a Maruti Alto K10 and a deal to record his first single with music label Universal. He was presented the trophy by the four coaches of singing reality show – Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Mika and Himesh Reshammiya. After winning the reality show Pawandeep said, “‘The Voice India’ is a huge platform and I feel overjoyed by this win. I feel extremely humbled with all the love and appreciation received from the audience across the country. I would first and foremost like to thank coach Shaan who thought I was good enough to make the cut and mentored me wholeheartedly. The show brought together the best talent and quite honestly with this kind of platform, I am sure everyone has gone back only as a winner,”

“Pawandeep has grown exponentially through the show right from the ‘Blind Auditions’ to the ‘Battle’, ‘The Live’ round and made it to the top four in the finale. It was our job to pick the best and mentor them only for the audience to pick their favorite voice. I am proud of Pawandeep for winning this title and I wish him all the very best for a melodious future,” Shaan said.

There are many youngsters in Uttarakhand who do not get the chance to showcase their talent due to the lack of opportunities in the state. We hope that we will see to get more people like Pawandeep Rajan in future.
